Playtex M.O.M. Program (Mother’s Own Milk)
This breastfeeding education program offers a series of
handouts, available to download and print, or you can order tear-off sheets.
Sources include Dr. Sears, La Leche League, AAP Policy statement, journal articles,
and others.
Overall, very well done.
Nicely formatted. Only reference to Playtex is at the bottom
corner of the page, it says “courtesy of the Playtex Mother’s Own Milk
Program.” ALL is clearly in support of breastfeeding, and discourages the use
of formula as an inferior substitute.
- Breastfeeding: Better for Baby / Better for Mom. Nice
broad collection of benefits.
- Breastfeeding Improves IQ: A discussion of clinical
research trials showing higher IQ scores in children who were breastfed.
- How will I know if I have enough milk for my baby? Good
summary of frequency of feeding, hunger cues, weight gain, diaper counts.
- Yes, You can go back to work and still breastfeed! Good
basic tips about combining work and breastfeeding.
- A recommendation from your employee’s Lactation
Professional. A letter moms could give to their managers which discusses
benefits of breastfeeding for the employer and mom’s needs for pumping.
- The ABC’s of breast milk. A multiple choice trivia quiz.
- Daddy: Bonding with your breastfeeding baby takes work,
but the payback is priceless. This is my favorite handout, and covers
ground that most breastfeeding materials ignore.
- How your babysitter can help you breastfeed / How your
daycare center can help you breastfeed. Good tips.
- 10 tips for breastfeeding while working. Adapted from
Sears’ Breastfeeding Book.
- How to Continue Breastfeeding When you Can’t Be with Your
Baby. Covers bottle-feeding breast milk; emphasizes waiting till baby is 4
weeks, breastfeeding often when you’re with baby, and never using a bottle
if you could breastfeed. ON the reverse side of this handout is the only
“ad” for a Playtex product: and even it is not pushing their
bottle, just the idea of a nurser with a drop-in liner and a naturally
shaped nipple.
